The massage will be customized to an expectant mothers’ needs and promote relaxation. Our massage therapists have received specialized training and know how to position and support the woman's body during the massage, modify techniques, as well as avoid certain areas and techniques during pregnancy.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PRENATAL MASSAGES?

There are many benefits of prenatal massages other than the amazing relaxation and relief of stress you will feel during your experience.

Prenatal massages can alter a woman’s hormone levels leading to mood regulation and improved cardiovascular health. The change in hormone levels can also lead to fewer birth complications, and benefit the newborn as well.

During pregnancy, women typically experience swelling also known as edema. This can happen due to increased pressure on the uterus and reduced circulation. Stimulating the soft tissue through massage can reduce the swelling in joints and improve the body’s lymph system effectiveness.

Prenatal massages can also ease the nerve pain that women typically experience during the later months of pregnancy as the uterus expands and the fetus grows. This pain commonly occurs in the lower back and pelvis area and can spread to the upper and lower leg, putting pressure on nearby nerves.  Prenatal massage therapy can release tension in nearby muscles, easing this pain.

Getting a sufficient amount of sleep can be a struggle for pregnant women. Increased serotonin levels and relaxation from a prenatal massage can contribute to a better night's sleep. Along with better sleep, increased serotonin levels can reduce depression that can occur during and after pregnancy. All of this combined can improve a mother’s mood, allowing her to be well balanced and form a better bond with her baby.

Prenatal massages help to prepare your body for childbirth. Your muscles will be more toned and relaxed for the start of labor and can reduce the pain and even shorten the delivery process.

Prenatal massages are a natural, drug-free method of pain relief. This is especially beneficial for pregnant women as there can be many risks and complications with using pain relief drugs or medications, and many are limited. A prenatal massage can alleviate many of the common pains that women experience during pregnancy. This massage will ease the entire pregnancy experience, allow for it to go more smoothly, and benefit both the mother and child in a variety of ways.
